Economist E-Series vs. Varimax V- Series Rotary Atomization Evaporators
EvaporationWorks offers two lines of rotary atomization evaporators Economist (E-Series) and Varimax (V-Series). Both systems are designed to deliver effective water evaporation using the same proven rotary atomization technology, but they are tailored to different customer needs.
Economist E-Series
The E-Series provides an affordable option without compromising evaporation effectiveness.
- Motors: Uses reliable induction motors. These are cost-effective but consume slightly more power and do not allow variable speed operation across multiple motors.
- NID Field Serviceable induction motors.
- NID Field Serviceable induction motors.
- System Size: Available as E-20 (2 arms, 2 motors) or E-40 (4 arms, 4 motors). All motors must run at the same speed, powered from a single VFD.
- Higher power draw
- Higher power draw
- Flow Monitoring: Equipped with a single flowmeter at the main water source. If flow is interrupted or blocked, the entire system shuts down.
- < 30 GPM on E40 system full shut down
- < 15 GPM on E20 system full shut down
- Water Throughput: Identical to the V-Series. Both use the same 1 hp pump and throughput capacity per motor.
- PVC build water manifold instead of steel.
- PVC build water manifold instead of steel.
- Fixed place motor arms: Arms cannot be turned and are fixed in place on the unit. Unit will need to be brought in to for motor maintenance instead of doing maintenance on the dock.
- Basic controls: Single ON/OFF switch with manual set Hz on VFD by user.
Varimax V-Series
The V-Series adds advanced features and flexibility for customers who need greater motor control, overspray control, monitoring, and support.
- Motors: Each arm motor is a permanent magnet motor operates independently, with variable speeds set by the user or automatically adjusted via weather station inputs and drift control parameters.
- System Size: The V-40 has 4 arms with 4 motors, each managed individually by individual VFDs (variable frequency drive)
- Flow Monitoring: Each arm has its own flowmeter, allowing motors to shut down individually if clogged or under-supplied with water, rather than shutting down the entire system.
- Weather & Remote Features: Advanced weather station integration with adjustable parameter settings. Includes remote monitoring and secure remote login assistance from the e3 support team.
- Wind direction
- Humidity
- Wind speed
- Precipitation amount and type
- Water Throughput: Same as the E-Series, powered by the same 1 hp pump.
- Ratioing motor arms: Arms can be rotated into the center of the V40 platform for easy maintenance on motors while unit stays in the pond.
- Advanced HMI Touch Controls: Bright touchscreen interface for setting all system and motor parameters. Enables remote monitoring and support through a data connection and provides automated weekly runtime reports generated from OnPing data.
Summary
Both the Economist E-Series and Varimax V-Series evaporators share the same 1 hp pump, water throughput, and rotary atomization technology, ensuring equal evaporation effectiveness. The key differences come down to affordability, flexibility, and advanced control options:
- Economist E-Series: A cost-effective solution designed for reliable evaporation with minimal complexity. Uses durable induction motors powered together from a single VFD, with one system flowmeter that triggers full shutdown below flow thresholds. Arms are fixed in place, requiring the unit to be brought in for motor maintenance. Best for customers wanting dependable performance at the lowest upfront cost.
- Varimax V-Series: Adds advanced performance, monitoring, and serviceability. Permanent magnet motors on each arm run independently at variable speeds, controlled by user settings or weather-based parameters. Each arm has its own flowmeter for individual shutdowns instead of full system stoppage. Ratioing arms allow motors to be serviced in place without removing the platform. Advanced HMI touch controls provide a user-friendly interface, customizable alerts, weekly runtime reports, and secure remote support from the E3 team. Weather station integration further optimizes operation by monitoring wind direction, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation.
- Choose E-Series for proven, affordable, and reliable evaporation.
- Choose V-Series for maximum control, advanced weather and drift management, in-place serviceability, and remote monitoring support.
